West Ham coach, Slaven Bilic recognised his team rode their luck in victory after the match.

Nigeria spends N14k daily to feed each prisoner but see photos of severely malnourished inmates in Delta State Prison

The Nigerian Government said it spends N14,000 daily to feed each prisoner. The Minister for Interior Abdulrahman Danbazzau, who disclosed this last May during a town hall meeting in Kaduna State said that "it is unacceptable for government to be committing N10 billion every year on feeding of prison inmates"

However, photos of severely malnourished inmates in Delta State Prison posted on Facebook on Friday, December 16th, by Prince Harrison indicates otherwise. 





"Today I visited a prison in Delta State Nigeria. This is their condition. No medical facility, no drugs. They are dying. I was able to get a lawyer who has promised to defend them so they can leave prison and get quick medical attention. They can't urinate, they can't stand for 10minutes. Our laws says they are Innocent until proven guilty. They deserve a better life. This one shown here is rendered by designer Chacko T Kalacherry, who did a fine job at capturing the Fabula Design spirit, in an evolved version. This mystery Nokia concept phone features big volume and On/Off buttons, a big front camera and narrow bezels.









Its case is rounded and the OS on board is Android 5.0 Lollipop, in a stock version. The handset is shown in silver and yellow and it has the vibe of a 5 inch to 5.2 inch handset. Google Finally Patches 'Dirty COW' Linux Vulnerability With December Android Security Update

In October, Linux security researcher discovered that a nine-year old Linux kernel flaw (CVE-2016-5195) was witnessing active exploits in the wild. The flaw was dubbed "Dirty COW", an acronym for the duplication technique called copy-on-write, and could potentially give root access of a device to the attacker within a matter of seconds. Now, Google has finally patched the critical flaw on Linux with its latest Android security update, and the patch is available for OEMs to implement on their Android devices.

The latest security update from the search giant, released alongside the Android 7.1.1. Nougat update on Monday, fixes over 50 security flaws including 11 with critical severity - including Dirty Cow. "The exploit in the wild is trivial to execute, never fails and has probably been around for years - the version I obtained was compiled with gcc 4.8," Oester said in October. The bug was initially patched 11 years ago but the fix was later undone in another code commit.

Last month, Google was expected to patch the flaw with its security update for November but the company couldn't patch the flaw at the time. However, Google released a supplemental fix for Pixel and Nexus devices. Kaspersky Lab's Threatpost reported that Samsung also released a fix for its mobile devices. Google had said that the company will introduce the Android-wide patch for Dirty COW in the December Android security update.

As per the dedicated page for this flaw, exploitation of this bug doesn't leave any traces behind. This nature of the flaw makes it even more dangerous as the users will not be made aware even when their security has been compromised.


Apart from this critical flaw, the search giant also patched another critical kernel memory flaw, CVE-2016-4794, which also allows attackers to gain root privileges of users' device. The security update comes with a patch for critical privilege escalation flaws regarding Nvidia's video and camera drivers.

The critical vulnerabilities concerning Qualcomm components was also fixed with company's latest security update.

Microsoft, Qualcomm Partner to Bring Windows 10 Desktop Apps to ARM Chipsets

Microsoft and Qualcomm on Wednesday announced that Windows 10 will get support for ARM chipsets, specifically, Qualcomm's Snapdragon SoCs. The first of these devices should arrive "as early as next year", the two companies revealed. This will enable hardware manufacturers to create portable devices like laptops, tablets, and even smartphones with support for desktop Windows apps (and games). The two companies made the announcement at Microsoft's WinHEC conference in Shenzen, China, however, details are a bit scarce.

Terry Myerson, Executive Vice President of the Windows and Devices Group at Microsoft, said that the Qualcomm partnership will enable users to experience Windows on a "truly mobile, power efficient, always-connected cellular PC."

Unlike Microsoft's now discontinued Windows RT platform, which didn't feature any desktop apps, the new Windows 10 for Qualcomm's ARM platform will run both desktop x86 Win32 apps as well as Universal Windows apps.

The support for desktop x86 Win32 apps will be provided in the form of a native emulator within Windows 10, Myerson revealed to The Verge. Regular MSI and EXE packages will work, but since everything is being emulated on a software level, app performance will not be as good as on x86 chips made by Intel and AMD.


Myerson also revealed that the first Qualcomm ARM chip to support Windows 10 will be the flagship Snapdragon 835 - which seems reasonable as a lot of hardware performance will be required to provide capable emulation. Notably however, it appears that things can indeed run on even lower specifications than next year's flagship Snapdragon SoC. The above video shows Photoshop and other apps running a machine powered by a Snapdragon 820 SoC and 4GB of RAM.

On the software side, with the promised support for the vast majority of legacy Win32 applications on the ARM platform, it could appear that Microsoft is shifting focus from its Universal Windows apps. Myerson dispelled the notion however, saying that developers would find it easier to offer features such as Windows Hello, touch and pen support with Universal Windows apps.

At the same time, Myerson also made it clear that this announcement is not a signal that it's losing faith in Intel or AMD's capacity to provide the efficiency and always-connected qualities of Qualcomm's offerings. Myerson insists that the Microsoft-Intel partnership is still going strong. "We're working closer with Intel than we ever have before. The collaboration is better than ever before. It's just the case where Qualcomm does have these chips with integrated connectivity and better idle power performance which enables new devices to get built," he told The Verge.

"The first PCs running Windows 10 based on Snapdragon processors are expected to be available as early as next year," Qualcomm separately said. The statement would imply that complete Windows 10 support for Qualcomm ARM devices such as smartphones could take a little longer to arrive. That does indeed appear to be the case, with Myerson confirming to The Verge that the initial focus would be on laptops, however, the company is envisioning a vast ecosystem of Windows 10 ARM devices. "We're thinking about platform that supports small screens, large screens, devices with no screens at all, head-mounted displays, and so what can these device makers build will really be up to them."

Microsoft Partners Intel for Project Evo; Outlines Hardware Plans to Complete With Amazon Echo, Google Home

Microsoft is reportedly working on a "Home Hub" feature for Windows 10 to allow users to perform various functions using voice commands. This feature is positioned to rival devices like Amazon Echo and Google Home. In the meanwhile, Microsoft has partnered with Intel for 'Project Evo', what appears to be a move to lay the hardware groundwork for this feature and allow device makers to incorporate Home Hub in a tablet laptop, or even a PC.

In a blog post, Terry Myerson, Executive Vice President of the Windows and Devices Group at Microsoft, detailed the areas the companies would be working together on. These include far-field speech communications (allowing users to use Cortana across the room), security capabilities to protect devices from malware and hacking threats (including biometric authentication), mixed reality experiences, and gaming innovations. 

Microsoft looks to give the device makers the freedom to incorporate the latest artificial intelligence with Cortana in the hardware that they desire. "Customers are device creators. There's a lot of enthusiasm for wake on voice, devices with far-field voice capabilities, devices with small screens, large screens, and no screens at all," explained Myerson, in an interview with The Verge.

Microsoft doesn't intend to make a hardware product similar to the Amazon Echo or Google Home, but just provide its device partners with the software ability to compete with them. This Home Hub feature should be able to listen to voice-based commands and perform tasks, support wake on voice and far-field speech communications, just like Amazon and Google's AI assistants. This smart speaker's feature will work on PCs, 2-in-1s, all-in-ones, and even tablets.

"From a platform perspective, our goal is to build this platform that provides a set of silicon options for these device creators, that allows them to choose the screen sizes they're choosing, and allows them to decide whether they want touch or not, support pen or not. So they can pursue their own vision of what the ideal device is," Myerson told the publication.


The Home Hub feature is not expected to launch before late next year. It is supposed to extend to Android and iOS devices as well, via the Cortana app. Microsoft is reportedly already in talks with hardware partners like Lenovo and HP to product Home Hub specific hardware. The new hardware that's fully compatible with Home Hub may include light and motion sensors as well, that switches off the device when no-one is in the room.

Finally, in what definitely seems like a step towards Home Hub, the latest Insider Preview build of Windows 10 (build 14986) brings the ability to use Cortana to switch off your PC via voice commands. The Verge reports that Cortana can also be used to put the PC to sleep, or restart it, apart from locking the PC, and changing system volume. The update lets Cortana change tracks in some music streaming services like iHeartRadio and TuneInRadio, when the PC is locked. Two other Cortana based features are the abilities to ask which song is playing, and bring up a view optimised for distance viewing if users say "Hey Cortana" when the PC is idle for more than 10 seconds.

Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge Users in India Receiving December Security Update

Samsung's Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are receiving December security updates. The update is being rolled out in India as well. The size of the update varies depending upon your current version and it brings the Android December security update as well as other stability improvements and bug fixes.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is receiving software version G930XXU1BPL2 while the Galaxy S7 Edge is getting version G935XXU1BPL2. Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge users can manually check to see if the update has arrived by going to Settings > About Device > Download updates manually.

The update also suggests some new features, but it is unknown at the moment as to exactly what those features might be.

Google earlier in December began rolling out the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update, which includes the December security patch, to Pixel, Nexus, and Android One users.


Samsung last month rolled out its 'Galaxy Beta Program' for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge users to test Android 7.0 Nougat on their devices. However, Samsung recently confirmed in a response to a user query that it will skip the Android 7.0 Nougat roll out for the devices altogether and jump directly to Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

Xiaomi Mi Note, Mi Max, Mi 4c, Mi 4s, Others to Receive Android Nougat Update

Xiaomi officials have confirmed that the Android Nougat update is coming for its smartphones. The Xiaomi Mi 4c, Xiaomi Mi 4S, and Xiaomi Mi Note will be among the first to receive the update followed by the Xiaomi Mi Note 2, Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus and Xiaomi Mi Max. The company confirmed the update through Weibo.

The company says the beta testing for the Nougat update is already underway. The MIUI operations manager who posted on Weibo did not mention any specific date from when the update will begin rolling out for the phones.

The Android based update will be called MIUI 9, a leaked image of which was spotted a while back. As of now, only the Xiaomi Mi 5 has received the Nougat update and now the rest of Xiaomi's devices can expect the update soon enough.


Interestingly, Xiaomi's official did not mention whether the Nougat update will be available for the Redmi series. Users of Xiaomi devices mentioned above can expect the Nougat update some time during Q1 of 2017.

Apple Said to Hold Talks With Government About Retail Stores in India

Apple Inc officials on Tuesday met Commerce Ministry top brass amid its plans to open stores in India without initially having to source components locally.

According to sources, the meeting chaired by Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) Secretary Ramesh Abhishek lasted for almost an hour with senior officials from Apple discussing details of the new Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) rules in single-brand retail and the company's retail expansion plans.

Apple officials are believed to have sought clarity on the changes in mandatory domestic sourcing norms for single brand retail brought in earlier this year. However, no official word on the meeting was received from either side.

In June this year, government had relaxed FDI norms by giving a three-year exemption from local sourcing to foreign players in single-brand retail and a five-year relaxation for 'state-of-the-art' and 'cutting-edge' technology.

India is one of the fastest growing markets for the Cupertino-based company. In the first three quarters of this fiscal year, Apple's iPhone sales in India were up 51 percent year-on-year.
In May this year, Apple's CEO Tim Cook had visited India and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as key industry leaders like Sunil Bharti Mittal and veteran banker Chanda Kocchar.

Apple had also announced setting up of a design and development accelerator to support Indian developers creating innovative applications for iOS and opened a new office in Hyderabad to accelerate maps development.

Cook during his May visit, had discussed issues including manufacturing and setting up retail stores in the country with Modi.

The FDI rules for single brand retail call for mandatory sourcing of at least 30 percent inputs from domestic companies.

Kanu gave the threat at his resumed trial on Tuesday. In the Tuesday’s ruling, trial Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja granted the Federal Government the nod to shield identities of witnesses billed to testify against Nnamdi Kanu.
Justice Nyako who held that names of all the prosecution witnesses who are mostly security operatives, would not be disclosed in any record of the court proceedings also said that the witnesses would be allowed to testify against the defendants behind a screen that would be provided by the court.
Justice Nyako however stressed that both the defendants and their counsel would be allowed to see the witnesses who she said would enter and exit the courtroom through a special door. However, Kanu immediately rejected the court ruling, insisting that it was against the tenets of Justice and fair hearing.
“I won’t stand this travesty of Justice. Buhari spoke in public, he accused me in public. I must also be allowed to stand my trial in public”, Kanu bellowed from the dock.
“This is nonsense! I will give testimony before this court! By the time I finish, there will be no Nigeria. This is no Sharia court.
It is a court that operates under the common law. “There will be no screening of witnesses, no fake identities or fake addresses. I cannot be tried in secret. No! Nnamdi Kanu cannot be jailed in secret! They are mad.
Why must I be tried in secrecy by a government that does not obey court orders. “They are killing my people in public, after killing my people they want to try me in private? That person is mad. I won’t allow it. “, Kanu fumed.
The IPOB leader is facing an11-count charge alongside three other pro-Biafra agitators, Mr. Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi.
Charges against the accused persons border on reasonable felony and their alleged involvement in acts of terrorism.

Akwa Ibom State Government has declared Sunday 11th and Monday 12th December 2016 as days of mourning for the victims of the collapse Church building at Reigners Bible Church International in Uyo the state Capital.

A release signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Mr Ekerete Udoh states that all flags are to be flown half mast within the state during the days of mourning.

The days of mourning will be rounded off on Monday 12th December 2016 by 4.pm with a Solemn Assembly to be held at the Banquet Hall, Government House Uyo.

The state Government therefore urges all citizens to pray for the speedy recovery of those injured in the building collapse.

Meanwhile, Governor Udom Emmanuel has ordered for the immediate arrest of the contractor handling the building project.

LeEco and Coolpad Launch Cool S1 With 6GB of RAM, Harman Sound, 4070mAh Battery

LeEco in collaboration with Coolpad are swiftly coming out with affordable high-end smartphones. After launching their first joint handset, the Cool1 Dual in August and their second device, the Cool Changer 1C, in late November, the two companies have jointly launched their third smartphone, the Cool S1, in China. The Cool S1 priced at CNY 2,499 (roughly Rs. 24,360) for the 4GB/32GB variant, CNY 2,699 for the 6GB/64GB option, and CNY 3,199 for the 6GB/128GB option.

The Cool S1 features a metal body with a design language that looks very similar to the LeEco Le Pro 3. The device features two front-facing speakers with Harman's Clari-Fi audio enhancing technology. The handset ditches the 3.5mm headphone jack and instead comes with a USB Type-C headset. The fingerprint sensor falls just below the rear camera module.

The specifications of the Cool S1 are on par with the leaked TENAA listing that was spotted in November. It features a a 5.5-inch 1080p display powered by a 2.35GHz Snapdragon 821 coupled with 4GB/ 6GB RAM options. As mentioned earlier, the smartphone is being offered in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage options.

The Cool S1 runs LeEco's EUI 5.8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with dual-SIM support. The handset sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with PDAF, 4K recording and Dual-LED flash, and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.


The Cool S1 measures 151.4x74.7x7.5mm and weighs 168 grams. Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, OTG, and USB Type-C support. The device is fitted with a 4070mAh battery pack that supports Quick Charge 3.0.

As of now, the Cool S1 is only available in China and there is no word yet on whether the 'Cool' series will hit the Indian market.
